While preparing to head to New Jersey for Thanksgiving, little one, you proclaimed that we would be traveling to "the great country of New Jersey."
Someone has clearly led you astray in your estimation of that state.

You spent the weekend in Rhode Island, little ones, while I was in California on book tour. You spent the weekend with the Kindness family. While their Daddy was in California with me, you remained behind with Finn, Milo and their Mommy.
You guys had a great time. Apparently Clara shares a love for dinosaurs with Finn, and Charlie slept well during the visit.
You’ve made some new friends, little ones!

Mommy went to New York City for the weekend. She’s the Maid of Honor in her friend’s wedding, and it was bachelorette weekend.
Mommy told you that she was leaving this morning and wouldn’t be back until Sunday evening.
Your response:
“This is not right.”

Last week we visited our friend, Jeff and Donna, at their beach home in Watch Hill, little one, something that you have been doing since you were in utero.
As always, we had a wonderful time. You were exceptionally well behaved and managed to entertain yourself for much of the day.
We spent a couple hours on the beach as well, though the waves were so high that they frightened you.
Lots of time spend digging in the sand and collecting rocks.

You spent three days in New York City with Mommy last week, little one, helping to take care of Ari while his nanny was on vacation.
And not surprising, you were nearly perfect, sleeping on cue and generally being a good little girl.
There were some moments when you and Ai had difficultly sharing, perhaps giving you some insight as to how life might be like with a sibling someday. And you even pushed him a couple times, necessitating a stern conversation between you and Mommy.
But typical two-year old stuff. Nothing terribly alarming.
A fun filled three day trip, and an exhausting one for Mommy!

We took you to the Mystic Aquarium today, little one, and I quickly learned why places like this allow two-year olds to enter free-of-charge:
Two year olds are not long for any exhibit, no matter how large or rare the fish may be.
We saw nearly the entire aquarium in a span of about two hours. We spent little time at any one exhibit, taking a more drive-by approach.
Your most constant refrain from the day:
“I want to see something else!”
Your favorite moments from the aquarium, in no specific order, included:
You cried when it was time to leave, but less than three minutes after being strapped into your car seat, you were asleep for your afternoon nap.
A fun day, little one.

Columbus Day was spent at the Foster Farm pumpkin patch and corn maze, little one. Though you didn’t love the corn maze, you loved the giant, black tube and adored the train, running back to it multiple times.
The cows, the chickens, the goats and the donkeys were also big hits, as were the pumpkins.
When you’re old enough, I have a million games to play in the corn maze, and if you like them, we could probably spend the whole day in there.
In some regards, Daddy never really grew up and is just waiting for the day when his little girl can let him play like a kid again.
