Milk has now become mope, little one.
What began as “bop bop” for reasons we will never know has now become something more closely resembling the actual word.
“Mope, please,” is a phrase we hear a lot.

Before bed, you decided to have a baby sleepover, little one.
Please note that every baby sleeps on his or her tummy (like you) and each baby was given a book and a blanket before bed.
You were quite particular about the arrangement of the babies and their paraphernalia, which amused Mommy and me a great deal.

Mommy went out to have lunch with friends today, which means that you and I are home alone, little one.
As always, you were rather despondent upon Mommy’s departure. When she left, you climbed onto our bed, clutched Mommy’s pillow, and cried out, “Mommy’s pillow! Mommy’s pillow!”
You then spent about ten minutes searching the house for her from top to bottom. You even stuck your hand through the cat door and called into the basement for her.
In an effort to settle you down, I have employed the following parental strategies:
For the moment, you are sitting beside me, coloring. I just taught you how to add legs to the circle that you call a cat, and you are now screaming for “More legs! More legs!”
Please note that none of this is written as a complaint, little one. Some people might think and refer to the last 90 minutes of constant, non-stop activity as exhausting, but these are the same people who will wonder where the time has gone and lament their baby growing up so quickly.
I know that your adoration of my choo choo impression and your fascination with the washing machine and the birds are fleeting, so I embrace every opportunity I get to enjoy these moments.
And with that, I must end this post. Your coloring is finished and you are now tugging on my hand.
I think you want to dance.

Mommy brought you to Town Meeting today, little one, to watch me play the the drums in the faculty band.
You were less than pleased with the fact that I could not join you as a member of the audience until you managed to find this crown, which you proceeded to wear upside down for the duration of the afternoon.
Quite cute, little one.

It would appear that you have nearly memorized Clifford the Big Red Dog.
You read it to Mommy today.
You read a little bit to me tonight as well, but with decidedly less enthusiasm.
Skipping your nap today probably didn’t help.

You said your full name tonight, little one, for the first time.
Clara Susan Dicks.
Your middle name is my mom’s first name. Your grandmother.
While I was thrilled to hear you say your whole name, it was also incredibly sad to hear you say my mom’s name, knowing you will never be able meet her, and worse, she never had the chance to meet you.

You identified the letter C today, little one.
We’ve been showing you the letter C, as well as your full name, for a couple weeks now, and tonight it appears to have stuck.
Not only did you pick it out of a sheet of paper filled with a variety of designs, but you indicated that it was a C and then said, “ABCD,” thus indicating that you understood that the C was a part of the alphabetic series.
Then you said, “C is for Clara,” causing Mommy and me to look at one another in amazement.
Obviously we now consider you a genius, little one.
