Mommy and I don’t go out too often, but when we do, there are always plenty of babysitters available to lend us a hand. I thought I’d tell you a little bit about your three primary babysitters throughout your first seventeen months of life. They include:
Lindsay, my former classroom volunteer turned student-teacher turned colleague, who has taken care of you on many occasions. Lindsay has probably gotten to know you best of all of your babysitters because she has spent the most time with you. She loves you a great deal, and I only fear that with her new job as a teacher, she may not be as available as she once was. Either way, I expect that she’ll always be in your life.
Kelly, my former classroom volunteer and friend of Lindsay. Kelly and Lindsay worked with me at Wolcott School, their former elementary school, for four years, and little did I know that they would one day be babysitting, Kelly is a hyper-conscientious babysitter who worries if you cry for ten minutes before falling to sleep, even though Mommy and I will listen to you cry for almost an hour before checking in on you. Kelly is off to California in a few weeks to begin a teaching job in a program that promises to pay her very little and challenge her a great deal. I know this doesn’t sound like fun, but for a person who wants to save the world, this should be perfect for Kelly.
Alison, a former third grade student and former fifth grade student of Daddy and Mommy respectively. Ali just finished her senior year of high school and will be off to college in the fall, but we plan on having her take care of you as much as possible before she leaves and when she is home during break. She will be missed. She is a no-nonsense girl who seems more comfortable and adept around children than me!
Mommy and I have our eyes on several other former students for future babysitters, especially with the departure of Kelly and Ali. But we’re very fortunate. As teachers, we have quite a stable from which to choose, little one, and I’m certain that they’ll all love you very much!
