I’m not sure if I should be excited or annoyed, little one.
While you infatuation for books persists, you have begun to take a more active role in choosing the books that we read to you. Some books, like your brand new Easter book, must be read at least a dozen times at a sitting. If we attempt to close the book and put it away, you reach out and push it back at us, insisting that we read it again.
For other books, like GOOD NIGHT MOON, your infatuation with the book has all but dissipated. When I attempt to read this book, you reach out, snatch it from my hands, and toss it on the floor.
Since this is the last book we read to you before going to bed, I assume that the book has taken on some negative connotations for you.
Lindsay and Kelly, two of your babysitter extraordinaires, report that you show more interest and attention to books than any other baby who they babysit, and by a wide margin. While it’s thrilling to think that you already have such an interest in books and a newfound capacity to choose which books you like, it’s a little annoying to have a book shoved back in your face for a ninth reading or tossed on the floor like a piece of trash.
