Two days ago you took a rather hard lined (and hilarious) approach to the animals in your book while putting them to bed.

Just one day later, your position had eased considerably.

Holding a grudge

One of the most important things we learned from your parent-teacher conference today:

It’s true. Teddy ripped a page out of a book, and he did it on purpose. Your constant and consistent complaints about Teddy’s transgression were born from an actual, intentional transgression.

I’m sorry I ever doubted you.

The fact that this happened months ago and you’re still talking about it is now the problem, little one.

It’s time to move on.

Someday you’ll be able to actually read the words, little one, but until that day arrives, I adore listening to you make up the stories based upon the pictures on the page.

I may like it more than seeing you actually read the words. But that might be the author in me. 

Science and literature intertwined

You’ve stepped it up, little one, combining science and literature into your evening reading habits.

Why has it taken so long for the human race to realize that books should not be read without a magnifying glass?

 

 

Reading a book (and eventually sharing your chair)

You and Gramps spent some time reading while we were visiting Aunty Emily and Uncle Michael in New York last weekend.

It was quite a cute moment, little one, despite your initial unwillingness to share the chair with your grandfather.

Tonight I am grateful to Dr. Seuss for bringing this extreme level of joy to you, little one. 

Frankly, I think the book is kind of stupid, but you love it (and on Dr. Seuss’ birthday no less), so the man was clearly onto something.
